After my 3rd night and 3rd day in a row of feeling unwell, I decided to completely eliminate veggies today… I think it is the first time in quite a while that I haven’t eaten not even one bit of vegetables! lol
It is so tricky to know what veggies I react to and in what amounts and I just want to feel good again, like I was able to a few times last week. It is so frustrating not knowing what foods are causing me all of these problems, especially when following the guidelines of what should be tolerated with fructose malabsorption (the supposedly low-FODMAP diet). So, my diet today was totally free of all FODMAP, how’s that?! =)
At the end of the day, I started feeling better, although still bloated, I had a boost of energy and jumped around for no reasons in my living room… I guess this is good sign! lol Hopefully, tomorrow I will get back to my normal baseline me… 😉
symptoms: super tired, lethargic with a brain fog for the first time of the day, increasing energy in the afternoon, abdomen still distended but improving.
*** I had my breakfast quite early because I had an f/u appointment with my gastro-enterologist… was prescribed another type of antiobiotics (Flagyl) to take for the next 7 days to try to eradicate this parasite that is still causing symptoms… we’ll see how it goes, I don’t like antibiotics but I don’t have other option at this point. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to eat my daily dose of raw organic sauerkraut & take my yeast probiotics Floractive(known as Florastor in the USA).
*** last night, I had a bite of my boyfriend’s chocolate Easter’s bunny and this afternoon I felt SO AWFUL! When looking at the ingredients more closely, I realized there was wheat in it… 😦 Spent the afternoon in bed, very tired, extremely bloated and had abdominal pain… all of that for a piece of cheap chocolate that wasn’t even good… god, need to think more before I eat! this is why I wasn’t hungry for dinner and only add veggies + coconut oil + avocado…
:: 6h30pm: zucchini + red bell pepper cooked in coconut oil + avocado
::8h00pm: 2 hard-boiled eggs (I got so hungry so had to eat a little something!)
*** today was difficult! After eating more carbohydrates than usual last weekend (because of the gluten-free bread and pancakes I was served at the B&B), eating cheese and drinking wine, I had awful cravings today and am happy to be back to my routine and healthy foods! =)
:: 10am: 2 free-range eggs + 1 slice free-range bacon + zucchini with olive oil (I felt like a kid when plating my breakfast!)
:: 1pm: free-range & gluten-free chicken sausages + mesclun + balsamic vinegar + last few drops of my extra-virgin olive oil I brought back directly from Spain… 😦
:: 6h45pm: grass-fed beef + Brussels sprouts + turnip + broccoli + onions in red wine sauce
:: 7pm: 25 g dark chocolate + organic raw cocoa nibs (melted a few secs in the micro-wave!)
*** I am going out of Melbourne CBD (for the 1st time!!) for Easter weekend and will be going to the Yarra Valley (leaving tomorrow Friday). Our weekend include a tour of 4 to 5 wineries = wine and artisanal cheese tasting. I will drink wine, which I really enjoy but drink only occasionally, and I will have cheese in small amounts. However, I willstay gluten-free. Our B&B hosts is happy to prepare gluten-free breakfast for us and we have found restaurants offering gluten-free options in the area. I really don’t care whether it is considered cheating, I just consider it living! I’ll do my best to stay on track but won’t miss any special opportunity! This weekend, my boyfriend and I will actually be celebrating our 11th anniversary (which actually was on March 23rd, but I was sick at that time). My high school sweetheart and I will definitely enjoy our weekend and I’ll keep you posted about my weekend when I come back on Sunday. =) Happy Easter!
